DannyTanner (Pete Colucci)

DannyTanner is een project/band uit New York. Ze produceren een deathmetal geluid met grindcore-invloeden. Dit is een opkomend talent dat als grap bedoelt was. Ik sprak even met Pete.

Can you tell me something about DannyTanner?

We are a 2 man grindcore band from Roselle Park NJ, we started in the summer of 2006 as a joke, but as soon as we put a few songs online we noticed that hey, people really like this stuff, lets write an album!

From where the inspiration to call it DannyTanner?

OK, for those who dont know, Danny Tanner was a character on Full House, a 90’s sitcom here in America. He was played by Bob Saget. I thought useing his name would be a great way to show that not only do we have balls because of our heavy genre, but we also have a humorous side. Excluding the name Danny Tanner we DO NOT reference Bob Saget or Full House in ANY of our material, artwork and lyrics included.

In may, you released The Finest Grind via Manicidic Records. How was the production process?

The production process was definitely a fun one, we recorded all TFG tracks between July and December 2006, we never had a schedule, we never practiced, we would just decide on a day and work our asses off. An average Danny Tanner song (ie An International Fried Chicken Ambassador) takes about 10 hours to complete the rough mix, drums, guitar, samples (if any) and finally vocals. Final mixing all took place at random times before the completion of the album. After we were happy with our album’s sound we contacted Park Slope Studios in Brooklyn NY for mastering and then finally a duplication company in California for our 500 original copies of The Finest Grind.

DannyTanner is a mix between Death Metal and Grindcore. By who are you influenced?

We are influenced by alot of bands/artists. It would take far too long to name them all but if a must say a few; Kill Whitney Dead, December AE, Circle of Dead Children, Christ Denied and Mortician.

You never played a show yet. Are there any shows planned in the future?

We have talked about playing shows since we started getting questions about shows everyday on our Myspace page. I think you’ll see DT live some day…no doubt.

How will you solve the problem that you don’t have a drummer for liveshows?

Another question we have gotten asked alot. When we decide to play shows we will most likely rig our drum machine up with a mic and perform with that. Most of the songs on The Finest Grind are at 240 BPM…unless we can get Kevin Tally or Derrick Roddery to bang for us i think its our only option…that and our live show will maintain the same speed and intensity that the album does.
